Gunnlaugur Árni Sveinsson (ISL)
Filip Jakubčík (CZE) has been awarded the EGA gold medal for finishing the season as the top-ranked European amateur player. The Czech standout made history this summer by becoming the first Czech golfer to win the European Amateur Championship, securing a three-shot victory in Sweden. His win not only solidified his position atop the European rankings but also marked a significant milestone for Czech golf on the international stage.
Joining him on the podium is Tyler Weaver (ENG), who takes home the silver medal after a season filled with high-level performances. A victory at the Cabo Collegiate was his biggest result of the year, but a course-record 63 (−9) during the stroke play segment of the European Team Championships in Ireland, which featured a hole-in-one, was also one of the highlights. The Englishman also earned a spot in the 2025 U.S. Open through qualifying and climbed into the top 10 of WAGR.
Taking the bronze medal is Gunnlaugur Árni Sveinsson (ISL), who delivered a breakthrough year for Icelandic golf. Sveinsson’s rise in the rankings mainly came from strong performances in US Collegiate events, but his season highlights also included representing Europe at the Bonallack and St Andrews Trophy matches. He concluded the season ranked inside the WAGR top 15, the highest-ever finish for an Icelandic player.
WOMEN
-
Paula Martín Sampedro (ESP)
-
Andrea Revuelta (ESP)
-
Meja Örtengren (SWE)
In the European Women’s Amateur Golf Ranking, Paula Martín Sampedro (ESP) has claimed the number one spot in Europe at the end of the 2025 season. The Spaniard produced a stellar year, highlighted by her victories at The Women’s Amateur and European Ladies’ Amateur Championships. Consistency defined her season, with several top 10s in big events, including the NCAA D1 Women’s Stroke Play Championship and the AIG Women’s Open, in addition to her major amateur victories.
Andrea Revuelta (ESP) finishes the year in second place in the ranking. A key member of Spain’s national team setup, she shone at the European Ladies’ Team Championship, where Spain reached and won the final. The Spaniard clinched back-to-back victories in the US representing Stanford in April and May and claimed a second consecutive podium at the European Ladies’ Amateur Championship this summer.
Meja Örtengren (SWE) takes the bronze medal in the 2025 ranking. The Swede has hardly finished outside the top 10 in any event all year, including at the European Ladies’ Amateur Championship where she finished in sixth position. Although not counting towards the 2025 rankings as it came just days after the cutoff date, the Swede captured the biggest title of her career this weekend on home soil in the Ladies' European Tour Hills Open.
