EUROPEAN AMATEUR ORDER OF MERIT

OVERVIEW

The European Amateur Order of Merit (EAOM), launching with a pilot season in 2026, was created by the EGA and its member federations with the objective of improving the landscape of elite amateur golf in Europe.

The EAOM consists of two series of approximately 15 already-established elite amateur events in Europe for both men and women, run in collaboration with national golf federations.

The EAOM runs in parallel to the European Amateur Golf Rankings, also overseen by the EGA, which extract European players from the World Amateur Golf Rankings.

HOW IT WORKS

Players score points based on finishing position in the scheduled events, and are automatically included in the standings (published here on the EGA website) upon scoring points. As a general rule, points are only awarded to players making the cut.

Players may compete in as many EAOM events as desired, although only a maximum of the six best point scores will count towards each player's ranking.

The Order of Merits are open to golfers of all nationalities and ages, provided they meet all amateur status criteria.

REWARDS & PLAYING OPPORTUNITIES

In addition to the European Amateur Order of Merit titles, and medals for the top three finishers, the EAOMs will offer rewards in the form of playing opportunities. For example, the EAOMs will facilitate a direct, performance-based qualification method to some of Europe’s major amateur events such as the EGA European Amateur and Ladies’ Amateur Championships.

Furthermore, each EAOM event will award the winner an invite to a tournament on one of Europe’s first or second-tier professional tours, with close to 40 (men and women combined) total exemptions to professional events available during the 2026 pilot season.
