ABOUT THE EVENT
Vagliano Trophy
The Vagliano Trophy was presented by André Vagliano to the French Golf Federation and the Ladies’ Golf Union in 1931, originally for an annual match between Great Britain & Ireland and France.
From 1949 to 1957 Great Britain had also played a biennial match against Belgium. In 1959 the two matches were replaced by one with GB&I playing a team representing the Continent of Europe, the Vagliano Trophy being used for the new event.
The match takes place over two days. Four foursomes matches in the morning and eight singles matches in the afternoon are played on both days with 24 total points available to the teams.
Junior Vagliano Trophy
Introduced in 2011, the Junior Vagliano Trophy is an annual event for girls under the age of 16 as of January 1st of the event year. Like the women’s match, the junior version sees GB&I and the Continent of Europe go head-to-head, competing in singles and foursomes matches over two days. The Continent of Europe has historically dominated the event, winning the first seven matches, with Great Britain and Ireland securing their first victory in 2024.
