Three years on from hosting the European Boys' Team event in Geneva, Switzerland will once again play host to one of the EGA's signature team championships.
Golf & Country Club Zürich will welcome the continent's top U18 girls for the European Girls’ Team Championship in July 2026.
The news was officially announced last Saturday at the closing ceremony of the 2025 edition, played at Slaley Hall in England, where Spain claimed a record 10th title.
“It is an honor for us, and we thank the Golf & Country Club Zürich for hosting this emotion-filled week on its top-level course,” said Barbara Albisetti-Heath, Sports Director of Swiss Golf.
“Being able to play at home is always highly motivating for players. In 2023 in Geneva, the Boys — thanks to their excellent preparation and strong desire to perform — narrowly missed the podium (5th place). We are confident the Girls will also take full advantage of this opportunity.”
The European Team Championships are among the biggest events on the amateur golfing calendar and have seen virtually all of the continent's top golfing stars represent their countries during their amateur days. After the opening ceremony on Monday, the competition begins with two rounds of stroke play qualifying on Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by three days of match play from Thursday to Saturday.
“On behalf of the Golf & Country Club Zürich committee, I must say we are delighted to have the opportunity to host this event,” said captain Robert Lilja. “Our club places great importance on team golf, and we couldn’t imagine a more exciting competition than a high-level amateur championship featuring the best Girls in Europe representing their national colors.
"With our seven mixed tee boxes and greens offering a variety of options, we believe we can vary the setup to provide stroke play and match play formats that are both thrilling and entertaining. We look forward to working with Swiss Golf and the European Golf Association to make this event a great success for the teams, coaches, and spectators alike.”
