The 2026 European Senior Championships came to a close at Eléa Golf Club in Cyprus on Saturday, the first time an EGA individual championship has been staged in the country. Three days of golf on the Cypriot coast produced a runaway winner in the men's field and a playoff finish in the women's, rounding off a memorable week for the championship in a new setting.
In the men's championship, Stephen Creed of England controlled the event from the front. After an opening 72 (+1), the English player carded a magnificent 67 (-4) in round 2 to take the lead. Creed never looked troubled over the closing stretch, and his lead only grew as the final round wore on. A 68 (-3) on the final day earned him a 4-shot margin of victory and his first European title.
Rodrigo Lacerda Soares of France, who won the title in both 2024 and 2025, mounted the strongest challenge alongside John Kemp of England, the pair sharing second place at two under par. Lacerda Soares produced the lowest round of the closing day among the leaders, and took home the silver medal, but could not bridge the gap to Creed. Joe Lyons of Ireland finished fourth at one under, with Craig Toyne of England rounding out the top five at level par.
The women's championship delivered a dramatic finish. Jordane Court of France and compatriot Benjamine Bouillonnec could not be separated over 54 holes, both finishing on two over par and forcing a playoff. Court held her nerve to take the title, sealing victory with a par at the first extra hole.
The win marks the third out of four gold medals this year for French players, following Pauline Stein and Pierre Tillement's victories in the European Mid-Amateur Championships last week in Portugal.
Behind the two French players, Geraldine Dondit of Switzerland claimed third at three over par after a steady week, with Amandine Vincent of France fourth at five over. Sylvie Van Molle of Belgium, the defending champion from 2025, finished fifth at six over as she chased a second consecutive title.
