The 2021 European Ladies’ Amateur Championship, originally scheduled for Alwoodley Golf Club, England, has been moved to an alternative venue.
Keeping the same dates of 21 to 24 July, the championship will now be played on the Allianz Course by Robert Trent Jones Sr. at Royal Park I Roveri near Turin, Italy.
“Travel restrictions into the UK was the key factor in the decision to move the championship from Alwoodley Golf Club.” Said EGA President Haukur Örn Birgisson and EGA General Secretary, Michael Thannhäuser in a joint statement. “We would like to thank England Golf and the Italian Golf Federation for their outstanding support at such short notice.”

The European Ladies’ Amateur Championship, first played in 1986 and now in its 34th edition, sees 144 of the game’s leading amateur players compete over four rounds of stroke play. The event is consistently ranked as one of the top amateur events in the world for strength of field.
Several Major champions and Solheim Cup stars have previously won medals in the event, including Céline Boutier (FRA), Bronte Law (ENG), Carlota Ciganda (SPA), Sophia Popov (GER), Caroline Hedwall (SWE), Anna Nordqvist (SWE), and Suzann Pettersen (NOR).
The winner of this year’s championship will earn an exemption into the AIG Women’s British Open in August.
The Allianz Course by Robert Trent Jones Sr. is regularly ranked among the top-50 golf courses on the continent. The venue has formerly hosted the European Young Masters, European Amateur Team Championship, and the Italian Open on the European Tour.
Entries to the tournament are open and can be completed up until 23 June (17:00 CET) on the www.ega-golf.ch website. Entries already made for the championship will remain valid, but can be withdrawn via notice to info@ega-golf.ch.
