David Krajny (CZE) and Tord Nilsson (SWE) lead the European Senior Men's Championship after day one.
Both players carded five-under-par rounds of 66 at Golf Club Ascona to take an early lead in Switzerland. Nilsson recorded five birdies and an eagle to reach five-under-par, while Krajny made seven birdies in his round.
The 2017 Champion, Markus Frank (SUI) sits just three shots behind in second place, although defending champion, Martin Birkholz of Germany, is tied for 34th position after a two-over-par round of 73.
In the Ladies' event, Jannicke Nielsen Bakken birdied the 18th to return a one-under-par 70, the only under-par score of the day. Two Spanish players, Macarena Campomanes, the defending champion, and Maria De Orueta, who has also previously won the event, sit just two shots behind on one-over-par.
After the second round on Friday, a cut will be made for the top-54 and ties in the Men's event, and the top-33 and ties in the Ladies' tournament.
