South East Course, the older of the two courses at Kytäjä was completed in 2003. As the first world-class course in Finland it garnered immediate interest and attention. Due to diligent maintenance and determined development, its position as the number one course in Finland has only strengthened over the last several years.
South East has a dual personality. The first nine holes are situated in a spacious forest landscape with great variations in elevation. Many of the holes are played downhill with spectacular scenery from the tees giving a hint of the challenges to come.
The bach nine is more level and open reminiscent of traditional links-style courses. The par 5 holes 14 and 18 border crystal clear Lake Kytäjä lending a distinct visual atmosphere while challenging players to contemplate taking some risky shots. Typical features of the South East course include wide fairways, deep bunkers and expansive greens. The boldly shaped and multifaceted greens, which are often elevated with false fronts, are demanding to play well.
