France Maintain Lead: European Team Championship for Golfers with Disability Day 2

19 Jul 2024

After the second of three days of action at the European Team Championship for Golfers with Disability, Team France sits in pole position.

Another fair weather day in Northwestern Germany saw only minimal movement between the eight teams on the leaderboard.

LEADERBOARD - EUROPEAN TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

In Round 2, the four-player teams paired up for greensomes, a format unique to this championship among the EGA's event roster. Greensomes is identical to foursomes other than that both players hit a tee shot on every hole, with the best selected by the players, and alternate shots played with that ball from that point on.

With a 78 (+7) and 81 (+10) on Friday, France extended their lead, and will take a 14-stroke advantage into the final day on a total of +36.

The Netherlands and England are tied for second position on +50. Tony Lloyd and Aimi Bullock carded the lowest score of the day, a 77 (+6), but a 90 (+19) from their teammates lost them ground to the Netherlands. They'll head into the final day fourballs with the same score.

Ireland (+57) maintained 4th place on Day 2, and are still in contention for the final spot on the podium heading into Saturday.

In the bottom half of the leaderboard, Norway (+81) jumped above hosts, Germany (+83) on moving day, with Belgium (+95) and Sweden (+123) in 7th and 8th positions.
