The 39th edition of the European Amateur Championship is underway in Finland.
144 of the world's leading amateur players will start their quest for the 2026 men's European individual title, and with it a spot in The 154th Open Championship, at Linna Golf today.
Finland's Sakke Siltala, who earned the bronze medal in last year's championship, hit the opening tee shot in rainy conditions at 07:00am local time. Shortly afterwards, due to intensifying rain, play was briefly suspended but resumed at 08:00am.
Cool and wet conditions are expected throughout the day on Wednesday in the southern part of Finland, with temperatures as low as 12°C for the early starters.
