Filip Jakubčík is the 2025 European Amateur Champion. The 21-year-old produced a strong performance in the final round on Saturday at Vasatorps Golfklubb in Sweden to become the first player from the Czech Republic to win the European amateur crown.

Jakubčík started the final round in a three-way tie for first place but he quickly took the outright lead, with four birdies on the front nine. With Germany’s Finn Kölle and Denmark’s Kristian Bressum stuck at three under par in the final pairing, the Championship turned into a two-horse race between Jakubčík and his playing partner from Finland, Sakke Siltala.

Playing solid golf himself, the Finn managed to come back within two shots of the lead with a birdie on the par-4 13th. But there was no stopping Jakubčík, who had dropped his only shot of the day on 15, but bounced back with a decisive birdie on 16, and didn’t look back thereafter.

"It’s amazing, unreal" said Jakubčík after the round. "I don’t know what to think yet. I was obviously nervous, there was a lot of us out there who had the same score going into round 4. To be honest, I was trying not to look at the leaderboard, I was trying to focus on my game, and it worked out well. I checked on the 18th, in case I had to go super aggressive. And I became way less nervous going to the last green."

Sakke Siltala finished his first European Amateur Championship with the bronze medal, as a late charge by Kristian Bressum pushed him to a runner-up finish.

Meanwhile, Scotland’s Cameron Adam secured a spot at The Open Championship by winning the R&A’s Open Amateur Series. The winner of the St Andrews Links Trophy secured a top-10 finish today to earn his spot in golf's oldest championship. He and Jakubčík will both be playing at Royal Portrush next month.

"It’s crazy" Jakubčík said. "It’s probably every amateur’s goal to play The Open, or any other Major. The fact that I can play in one, to get the experience, the feeling, I’m super excited."
