History

The European Amateur Championship, established in 1986, is Europe's leading four-round amateur stroke play event. 144 elite amateur golfers compete for the European men's individual title each year in June.

With an invitation to The Open Championship up for grabs for the winner, the championship typically attracts many of the world's leading amateur players.

The event is also a staple on the men's European Amateur Order of Merit, and the final counting tournament in The Open Amateur Series, offering an additional qualifying opportunity for The Open Championship.

Filip Jakubčík became the first Czech player to lift the trophy with victory in the 2025 edition, joining a prestigious list of former champions.
