The Bonallack Trophy is a biennial international match between 12-player teams from Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. Inaugurated in 1998 the match is named after the late Sir Michael Bonallack, who was one of the most decorated elite amateur players in the history of the sport, and one of the leading administrators in the world of golf.
The format of the match is similar to the Ryder Cup, with two days of foursomes and fourball matches, before 12 singles matches are contested on the final day. The match is played alongside the Patsy Hankins Trophy, the equivalent match for ladies.
Notable former participants for Europe include Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Shane Lowry, Francesco Molinari, Danny Willett, Justin Rose, Rasmus Højgaard, Edoardo Molinari, Asia-Pacific's notable players include Hideki Matsuyama, Cameron Smith, Min Woo Lee, Geoff Ogilvy, Brett Rumford, and Shiv Kapur.
