The European Golf Association would like to congratulate the top-three ranked players of the 2021 European Men’s Amateur Golf Ranking, who receive formal recognition for their achievements in the form of an EGA medal. The final rankings were taken on Wednesday, 15 September 2021.
LUDVIG ÅBERG receives a gold medal for finishing the season as the top-ranked amateur male golfer in Europe. The Swedish player won three events on the U.S. college circuit this year, including the Jones Cup Invitational and the Thunderbird Collegiate, helping him dominate the European ranking since March. Åberg’s best result in Europe came at the European Amateur Championship in France, where he narrowly missed out on victory to finish runner-up.
ALEX FITZPATRICK earns this year’s silver medal. The English player steadily climbed the European Amateur Ranking this season with several top-five finishes on U.S. soil, including a win at the Valspar Collegiate. Earlier this year Fitzpatrick also followed in the footsteps of older brother and Ryder Cup star, Matthew, for a second time when he competed for Great Britain & Ireland in the Walker Cup.
DAVID PUIG CURRIUS is awarded the EGA bronze medal after finishing third in the ranking. The Spaniard has already won a European bronze medal this year, having finished third at the European Amateur Championship in June. Puig started the season with back-to-back wins in U.S. college events, which included a nine-stroke victory in the Southwestern Invitational.
